2008 GOV Tournament

Gay Ottawa Volleyball (GOV) is once again pleased to welcome volleyball teams from across the country and from across the border to the 17th annual volleyball tournament to be held in Ottawa, Ontario on the weekend of April 5th and 6th, 2008. Again this year, the tournament will be played at the University of Ottawa gym located in the heart of historic Ottawa. The theme for this year's tournament is "Capital City Ho' Down", so come prepared for a hoot-n-hollering good time and bring your cowboy boots and chaps.

Team reservation can be done on-line by completing the registration form. The fee is $550 for teams with up to seven players and an extra $50 for every additional player over seven. Fees are payable by cheque or money order payable to Gay Ottawa Volleyball, or G.O.V. Payment should be sent to:

Fees must be received no later than April 2nd, 2008. Your fee includes the cost of the tournament as well as the Saturday night banquet and show. Extra banquet tickets for non-players can be purchased for $35 each in advance. Please be sure to include your team name on the back of your payment when submitting.

Once arriving in Ottawa, all teams should register with the tournament organizers at The Lookout Bar, located at 41 York Street in the Byward Market district, on Friday April 4th between 8:00pm and 11:00pm. Captains can pick up their tournament package at that time.

This year, GOV is pleased to once again provide a special hotel package for out-of-town teams in co-operation with the Courtyard by Marriott. The Courtyard by Marriott Ottawa is located at 350 Dalhousie Street in Ottawa's historic Byward Market district and is within walking distance to many famous attractions, such as the Rideau Canal, the National Arts Centre, the National Gallery of Canada and countless museums. Again this year, the Courtyard By Marriott will also be the host for the GOV banquet and "Ho' down" on the evening of Saturday April 5th. GOV has made arrangement for standard rooms with 2 queen sized beds, high-speed Internet and other features at the special rate of $115 per night, single or double occupancy.
